Caring for Your Candle:
To get the most out of your candle and ensure it burns beautifully each time, here are a few simple care tips. Proper candle care not only extends the life of your candle, but also enhances its scent throw and overall performance.
What we’re made of:
- Coconut Soy Wax Blend
- Lead-free Cotton Core Wicks
- Pure Essential Oils
- All-Natural Fragrance Oils
- Sleek, reusable glassware with an eco-friendly lid
Trim the Wick: Before each lighting or once the candle has cooled, trim the wick to about ¼ inch to prevent your wick from sinking into the wax pool as it will result in your candle burning out.
Burn Time: To avoid “tunneling” (where the wax builds up along the edges), let the candle burn until the melted wax pool reaches the edge of the glassware, usually anywhere between 1-3 hours depending on the size of your candle. This will ensure an even and consistent burn. Avoid burning for longer than 4 hours at a time.
When to Discontinue Use: Discontinue the use of your candle when ¼ inch of wax remains in the bottom of the glassware. Burning past this point can cause the vessel to overheat, which may lead to cracking or damage.
General Safety Tips:
- Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Never leave a candle burning unattended, especially near children, pets, or anything that can catch fire.
- Avoid drafts.
- To extinguish, gently blow out the flame or use a wick snuffer.
- Do not pick up a lit candle or immediately after it is blown out.
- Keep candles away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, as this may affect its quality.
- We advise against lighting the wicks if you choose to use a candle warmer to melt the wax in your candle. Combining both methods can pose safety risks and may affect your candle’s performance.

Additional Information:
-
Background scents can interfere with perception:
- Strong ambient smells such as sage, incense, cooking odors, can overlap or mask woody and deep fragrances, making them harder to distinguish.
- Pollen and seasonal allergies can temporarily reduce sensitivity to scent by causing nasal congestion or inflammation, even if the symptoms are mild. This can make certain fragrance families, especially deeper woody or musky notes much harder to perceive.
-
Individual scent perception varies:
- People naturally experience fragrance differently. This is influenced by biological sensitivity and how each person perceives specific aroma compounds. Some scent families can be perceived more strongly by some individuals, while others may find them to be more subtle, depending on how their sense of smell responds to different fragrance notes.
-
Wick trimming can influence performance:
- Candles are prepared with the wick already trimmed to approximately 1/4 inch (0.25") for the first burn to ensure proper initial performance. If the wick is trimmed shorter than intended before lighting, it can reduce the flame size and early heat output, which may soften the fragrance release, even if the candle still achieves a full melt pool.
Ways to Repurpose: Once your candle is burned down we hope that you’ll reuse the glassware! Here’s a few different ways to clean them out and ideas for repurposing–whether it’s the matte black jar with a cork lid or the teeny tiny clear jar with a gold lid, each can find a use in your space.
The matte black jar is perfect for storing small crystals, herbs, or jewelry, while the tiny clear jar with its gold lid makes a beautiful container for spices, delicate jewelry, or even tiny keepsakes. Repurposing is a sustainable way to honor the life of your candle and be a friend to our planet.
How to Clean Methods:
-
Freezer Method: Place the glassware in the freezer until the remaining wax fully hardens. Once frozen, gently pop out the remaining wax with a spoon.
-
Oven Method: Preheat your oven to the lowest setting and remove the labels from the glassware. Pro Tip → Use a blow dryer on a high heat & low speed for easier removal of labels.
Place glassware on a baking sheet with parchment paper until the remaining wax has melted. Carefully remove from the oven and pour remaining wax into the trash. Using a spoon, you can pop out the wick holder and wipe the inside clean with a paper towel. Follow up by immediately washing the jars with warm, soapy water to remove any remaining residue.
