The Foo Dog (also called Fu Dog or Imperial Guardian Lion) is a mythical Chinese guardian lion-dog that offers strength, protection, and removes negative energy. They also symbolize prosperity, success, and guardianship. Often in pairs (male & female), the female represents yin and protects the interior of the home (spirit & soul), while the male represents yang and protects the exterior of the home (physical elements). When displayed according to Feng Shui, the female is on the left and the male is on the right, and the open mouth represents the out breath or the sound of "om."
