As we move through our day, our energetic and emotional worlds can feel cluttered by the demands of daily life, interactions with others, and the environments we move through. Energetic hygiene is the practice of consciously tending to your personal energy. It can involve clearing what feels heavy or stagnant, grounding yourself when you feel scattered, establishing healthy energetic boundaries, and reconnecting with your own center. Through simple rituals and mindful practices, you can create space for greater clarity, balance, and a deeper connection with yourself.
Our energy can be influenced by our surroundings, relationships, thoughts, emotions, and experiences. When we move through life without pausing to process these influences, we may feel emotionally weighed down, mentally scattered, or disconnected from our intuition. If you've ever left a conversation feeling drained or needing quiet after a crowded environment, you may be absorbing the moods of those around you or spending too much time attending to others that you lose touch with your own needs.
Here are our favorite practices for daily energetic hygiene.
Smudging a room or environment with White Sage, Cedar, Rosemary, Palo Santo, or incense removes the stagnant energy and invites in a renewed sense of peace, clarity, and intention into your surroundings. Directing the smoke around the room and your aura as you move with intention, can release any tension or change the mood in the room. For a deeper dive into smudging, check out our blog, "Revitalize Your Space: Spring Energetic Cleaning."

Certain crystals are associated with protection, clarity, and balance. Our favorites to work with are Selenite, Black Tourmaline, Black Obsidian, Black Kyanite, and Blue Kyanite.

Calling Back Your Energy
When our energy is scattered, we pull our attention into unresolved emotions, replaying past experiences, or focusing on situations beyond our control. When we remain invested in this energy, we may feel depleted, ungrounded, and more vulnerable to negative thought patterns. Consciously calling our energy back can help restore a sense of wholeness, calm the nervous system, and bring us back to the present moment.
Try this simple practice prior to sleep, after a stressful event, or a challenging conversation. Lying in bed or in a comfortable position with your eyes closed, set the intention to call back your energy using a simple statement such as, "I call back all of my energy..." You can add "from" and list people and places your energy was invested during the day such as work, stores, school, large gatherings, television, electronics, social media, and AI. You can visualize your energy returning to your energy field as a golden light infusing your Solar Plexus Chakra.
Cutting Cords
Energetic cords are subtle energetic connections that can form between people, places, and experiences. A cord does not necessarily mean a relationship is unhealthy or that the other person is intentionally taking your energy. Sometimes a cord simply represents an attachment that is emotionally charged or a connection that you're ready to experience differently. If you find yourself ruminating over someone or an experience, feel emotionally activated or drained by a particular person or situation, or feel yourself carrying someone else's emotions you may be holding onto energetic cords that are pulling you off center. Releasing energetic cords is not to erase or deny the experience or person, but to consciously move forward with greater clarity, sovereignty, and peace.
Releasing cords is a symbolic practice to reclaiming your energy. There are different ways to approach releasing cords. In a space of stillness, call on your spirit team to assist you in dissolving the cord. Visualize the cord between you and the other person/situation. Offer the cord gratitude for its lessons and ask for it to release. "I release this cord with compassion and gratitude. I call my energy back home and return what is not mine to carry." You can imagine it being dissolved with fire or cut with a pair of scissors or sword. In Kyle Gray's Raise Your Vibration: High-Vibe Tools to Support Your Spiritual Awakening, he offers a simple prayer to releasing cords with the assistance of Archangel Michael. "Thank you, Universal Source, Archangel Michael, and angels of protection, for cutting the cords that bind me to people, places, energy, situations, institutions, and any other stuff I no longer need. It feels so good to know you are here. I am safe and free!" You may want to finish this practice with a salt bath or smudging your auric field. For a deeper dive in releasing cords, consider an energy healing session such as Reiki.

Using Water to Release
Water has long been associated with cleansing, renewal, emotional flow, and moving from one state to another. Taking a bath or shower or even spending time near water can be a simply energetic hygiene practice. Adding salts to your bath can amplify the clearing and purifying of energy. While bathing or being near water, repeat this intention:
With this water, I release the weight of the day, I honor what I have experienced, let go of what I am ready to release, and make space for peace and renewal. Thank you Mother Earth and the Water Element for graciously transmuting this energy.
Clearing Your Space
A cluttered room, noisy environment, or workspace filled with unfinished tasks can sometimes contribute to mental overload. Refreshing your physical environment can be an equally meaningful part of clearing stagnant energy and restoring a sense of balance in your space. Removing clutter, donating items you no longer need or use, or rearranging a space can create a smoother flow of energy. Sound vibrational instruments, aromatherapy, Himalayan salt lamps, smudging or rearranging your altar space, or digital clearing can make your space more peaceful and inviting.

When we are busy or emotionally overwhelmed, we may move through the day without noticing how much tension we are holding. As our thoughts race ahead to the next responsibility, mindful breathing offers a simple way to interrupt this pattern. Breathwork techniques can induce a relaxation response and transform a state of tension and overwhelm into a greater sense of calm, presence, and clarity. Mindful breathing techniques activate the amygdala (the emotional regulation center of the brain), reduce negative emotions (such as overwhelm) and stimulate positive changes in mood and cognition. As we switch from the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight response) to the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest or the body's ability to relax), stress is reduced and felt throughout our body. Try this simple practice:
Spirit Team
Every one of us has a spirit team of our ancestors, angels, spirit guides, and ascended masters who are supporting us. They can be called upon for guidance and to establish an intention for how we wish to move through the world. Use the following prompt for assistance with energetic cleansing:
I ask for guidance as I release what no longer serves me. May I recognize what is mine to carry, what I can compassionately release, and where I need to establish healthy boundaries. May I move forward with clarity, discernment, and trust in the path unfolding before me.

Morning Energy Ritual
Begin each day with a simple routine to create a smooth flow of energy. You don't have to practice a rigid set of rules; choose something that works for you.
Evening Energy Ritual
As you end your day, create a few moments to acknowledge your experiences and transition to sleep.
As you explore these practices, notice which ones support your sense of balance and well-being. Let your daily routine evolve with your needs, and remember that it doesn't need to be overly complicated to be meaningful. When you make space to reconnect with yourself, you create more room to move through the world with intention, compassion, clarity, and a stronger sense of your authentic self.
